difference is the absence of integrated M4 Feed Ramps. While this should not

larger ejection port, have an integrated forward assist, or be an enhanced
model with a one-piece design combining the handguard mounting platform with
the upper receiver itself?
These come in varying
Cerakote colors as well as Anodized Black, but they do not come assembled and
uncoated. Be sure if you are looking for an uncoated upper receiver to shop the
stripped version. Also, keep in mind you may have to remove the assembled parts
if you want anything other than the standard black finish on the assembled
parts.
How Important is Having a Forward Assist?
In forums and chat
rooms, there has been much debate about the continued need for a forward assist
on the AR 15 upper receiver. The argument being do you really want to force the
bolt forward if it is stuck? The original forward assist was added to the rifle
after feeding issues occurred in Vietnam. With modern AR 15 rifles, the forward
assist is almost not needed. If the rifle is jammed, it should be properly
cleaned and lubricated. So, deciding on which upper receiver to purchase can be

a forward assist.
