The Mod 5 charging handle features a reinforced, small latch that optimizes fast manipulations while reducing snag risk. The extended latch features an aggressive, non-slip front face that makes palm blading and other rapid charging motions fast and effective at getting your rifle back in the fight! To withstand this heavy use, the latch has been redesigned to redirect force away from the roll pin (which has also been beefed up over OEM options) and into the sturdy forged aluminum body.

The original M16 charging handle can bend and break at the worst time when you’re running your rifle in a hurry. To prevent this, the VLTOR charging handle upgrades the material to high-strength 7075-T6 aluminum. It’s even finished with a MIL-SPEC grade Type III Class 2 hardcoat anodized finish.
