What is a Flash Hider?

Flash hiders sometimes called flash guards, flash eliminators, flash cones or even flash suppressors are designed to reduce the visibility of the flash caused by the burning gases exiting the barrel at high speeds. Flash hiders work by dispersing and/or cooling the burning gases exiting the barrel, thereby lowering the bright flash and in turn protecting the operator from becoming flashed or temporarily blinded by his/her own gun in low-light shooting conditions. The primary purpose of the A2 flash hider is to benefit the operator.

Flash Hider vs Muzzle Break:

An important distinction to remember is that flash hiders are not the same as muzzle brakes. However, some muzzle brakes can also double as flash hiders. Unlike flash hiders, the primary purpose of a muzzle brake is to reduce the recoil in firearms that use large caliber cartridges.
