Faxon Firearms Superfinished 5.56 NATO Gunner Lightweight Bolt Carrier Group – TiN

The Faxon Superfinished 5.56 Gunner Lightweight Bolt Carrier Group reduces reciprocating mass while retaining the functionality expected of an M16-pattern carrier. Weighing just 8.5 ounces complete, it is built for shooters looking to tune an AR-15 for faster cycling, reduced moving mass, and smooth operation.

The bolt is machined from 9310 tool steel, receives full MIL-SPEC heat treatment, is shot peened, and undergoes Magnetic Particle Inspection. Faxon also uses an S7 extractor with the spring, insert, and Crane O-ring installed for dependable extraction.

Faxon lists the bolt and carrier as salt bath nitrided, while the carrier and gas key receive an additional TiN PVD finish. The carrier body is superfinished to reduce friction and fouling, and the gas key is secured with Grade 8 fasteners and fully staked for long-term reliability.

The M16-pattern carrier retains forward-assist serrations, dust-cover compatibility, and the full-auto trip-sear profile. It is also compatible with .300 Blackout, and Faxon specifically lists it as FRT/FRS compatible.

Faxon recommends using an adjustable gas block with the Gunner Lightweight BCG. Because the reduced-mass carrier requires less gas to cycle than a standard-weight BCG, an adjustable gas block lets you tune the system for reliable operation, recoil control, and changes in ammunition or suppressor use.
